Certified Nursing Assistant

Theory

The program begins with the Theory portion, where students receive classroom instruction and complete the educational foundation of the course. This phase focuses on developing the knowledge required to understand patient care, professional responsibilities, safety practices, and the role of the nurse assistant. Students learn the principles that will guide them throughout the remainder of the program and prepare them for state certification requirements.

Skills Lab

After completing the classroom portion, students move into the Skills Lab, where they begin applying what they have learned in a supervised learning environment. The lab provides a safe setting for students to practice, develop, and refine their skills before providing care in a healthcare facility.

Working closely with instructors, students gain valuable hands-on experience while building confidence through guided practice and repetition. This phase allows students to become comfortable performing required skills, receive immediate feedback, and strengthen their understanding before transitioning to patient care.

Our Skills Lab is designed to simulate a healthcare environment, giving students the opportunity to practice using equipment and techniques commonly found in clinical settings. This experience helps bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world applications. Students may also inquire about opportunities for skills competency evaluations.

Clinical Training

The final phase of the program is Clinical Training, where students apply their classroom knowledge and laboratory experience while working in a licensed healthcare facility under the supervision of qualified instructors and healthcare professionals.

Clinical training gives students the opportunity to care for real patients in a professional setting while continuing to develop their skills, confidence, and clinical judgement. This experience allows students to understand the responsibilities of a nurse assistant, work as part of a healthcare team, and gain practical experience that cannot be replicated in the classroom.

By the completion of the program, students have progressed from learning foundational concepts in the classroom, to practicing in a controlled lab environment, to providing supervised patient care in a clinical setting. This step-by-step approach helps prepare graduates for the state certification exam and for a successful career as a Certified Nurse Assistant.
